Excursion on a necropolis and canyon Shakpak-Ata
The program of excursion:
1 Day. Transfer: Aktau city – Shakpak-Ata necropolis (130 km, 3 hours). Departure from Aktau. We drive into direction of small town Fort-Shevchenko at the coast of Caspian Sea. At the 84 th km of the road Aktau – Fort-Shevchenko we turn off into the long and narrow Kapam-Sai valley. The road is covered with silicic chips.We go down to the shepherd stand, that looks like a garage with number of old and useless cars; then we pass the old tomb and stop at the foot of calcareous mountain. From here we go on the calcareous steps to Shakpak-Ata mosque, cutout in the slope. There is an ancient burial ground in front of the mosque. Sightseeing and walking around. Return to Aktau via Shakhbagata-sai valley with picturesque calcareous rocks, this is one of the most beautiful places of Mangyshlak. Walking around to spend the rest of the day, then continue the drive to Aktau city via Tauchik village (120 km).
Excursion on a necropolis Beket-Ata
The program of excursion:
1 Day. Transfer: Aktau city – Zhana Uzen (New Uzen) – Senek village – Shopan-Ata Necropolis (X-XIII cc.) – Shakpakty pass – Oglandy valley – Beket-Ata mosque (320 km, 7-8 hours). Early departure from Aktau. Our way goes to the south-east in direction of Zhana Uzen' on a good asphalt road. We pass small town Zhana Uzen', then Senek village, after the village we turn to the left to the back road and drive for about 15 km. To the right Shopan-Ata Necropolis is seen – it is a traditional stop for the piligrims heading for Beket-Ata mosque. There is a well with drinking water nearby. From here we drive up to the plateau on so-called “steps”. There are precipices to the left and right of the plateau. Arrival to Beket-Ata mosque, accommodation at guest-house. Rest. Evening prayer in the mosque.
2 Day. Breakfast. Excursion to the place where Beket-Ata lived. Descent from the plateau takes about 1 hour, elevation changes up to 200 meters. As legend says, Beket-Ata lived with his sister in calcareous rooms. Their “house” consisted of two rooms and a kitchen. Argali horns were placed in the chimney and kitchen smoke was colourless outside because of that. After excursion we return to Aktau. Transfer: Beket-Ata – Aktau (320 km , 7-8 hours).
Excursion on a necropolis Karaman -Ata
The program of excursion:
1 Day. Transfer: Aktau city – Bardybek village – Karaman-Ata necropolis (85 km, 2 hours). Departure from Aktau. Our way goes in direction of Bayandy village. At the end of the city we pass small “dead” lake, used to utilize manufacturing waters of Mangyshlak metallurgical works.We pass Bardybek tomb, situated 1km from the road. Soon we will see oil derricks and gas flames. There is a plumbing along the road, it carries water from the Volga river. We turn to the left, in direction of Shetpe village and reach Karaman-Ata necropolis very soon. Sightseeing, visit to the underground mosque and burial grounds. Return to Aktau. On the way we stop at the lake with black water, filling up the crevice. Transfer to Aktau. |
